Visualisation of museums in France
For this university exam, my partner Kentin Martel and I participated in the French open data university challenge, focusing on the theme of culture. We chose to explore and highlight the cultural offerings of France's museums using available open datasets.
Discover the project! Our first step was to filter and analyze the datasets from the official French open data website. Once we had the relevant data, we used PlotJS and D3.js on Observable to build interactive graphs that showcased the findings. These graphs included:
- Carte de la France affichant la localisation des musées en France en 2024 (Map of Museums in France)
- Offre culturelle vs Population par région (Cultural Offer vs. Population by Region)

To integrate these visualizations into a cohesive platform, I created a custom WordPress theme. The theme allowed my partner’s research and analysis to be displayed alongside the interactive data visualizations. We also developed plugins to embed the graphs dynamically based on the ID of specific div elements, ensuring a seamless integration between the content and visual data.

Once completed, the project was published on data.gouv.fr, making it accessible to the public and contributing to the growing open data ecosystem in France.
